Loaded Sweet Potato Casserole Recipe

The best casserole is sweet potato casserole with toasty spices, brown sugar, toasted pecans, and small marshmallows. This Thanksgiving and Christmas side dish is classic.

Preheat oven to 350°F.Coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or baking spray. Set aside.Roast 2 cups of nuts on a baking pan for a few minutes. Be careful not to burn them. Cool and roughly cut after baking.

Peel, dice, and wash sweet potatoes. Put cubed potatoes in a dutch oven or big saucepan. Cover with water and boil. When forked, potatoes should be soft after 15 minutes of boiling.

Wait to cool after draining and mashing sweet potatoes.While the potatoes cook, use a fork to mix melted butter, flour, sugar, and cinnamon into soft crumbs in a small bowl. Set aside.  

All of the ingredients from the "Pecan Topping" portion should be combined, with the exception of the marshmallows. Mix, then put to the side.

Mix the slightly cooled mashed potatoes with the "For the Potatoes" ingredients: brown sugar, melted butter, 1 cup chopped nuts, lightly beaten eggs, milk, salt, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix until smooth.

Spread half of the mashed sweet potato mix equally in the pan and level the surface with a spatula.Sprinkle half the Cinnamon Filling over mashed potatoes.

Spread the rest of the sweet mashed potato filling out equally, and use a spatula to smooth the top.On top of the mashed potatoes, sprinkle the Pecan Filling mix.

When using micro marshmallows, sprinkle them on top of the dish.Cover the top with the remaining cinnamon filling mixture and sprinkle it on.

The topping should be browned after thirty minutes in the oven, and the filling should have achieved the correct temperature.

As soon as the marshmallow starts to turn brown, use baking spray to coat some foil and place it over the dish, grease side down. Be careful not to touch the toppings.Warm up and serve.
