Before heating the olive oil, place it in a Dutch oven or a big saucepan and set the heat to medium.

Cook the spinach until it has wilted for a few minutes. Cook for one more minute after adding the artichoke hearts to the casserole.

Put in the cream cheese and whisk it until it is completely melted and there are no lumps left. Add the garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and stir to combine.

After adding the milk, continue to cook it while stirring it occasionally until it reaches a boil.
