– Sugar cookie bar– 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter softened– 2 cups granulated sugar– 4 large egg– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract– 5 cups all-purpose flour– ½ teaspoon table salt– ½ teaspoon baking soda– Cream cheese frosting– 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter softened– 4 oz cream cheese softened– ½ teaspoon almond extract– ½ teaspoon vanilla extract– 4 cups powdered sugar– 2 tablespoons heavy cream– Food coloring & sprinkle

Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 12"x17" or 13"x18" cookie sheet with cooking spray.

Instructions
Cream butter and sugar in a stand mixer or hand mixer until light and fluffy. This takes 2-3 minutes. It will start dry and crumbly but become creamy after a few minutes.

Mix after adding each egg. Mix vanilla in well. Whisk together flour, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl. Stir into the wet mixture until combined. Use the prepared cookie sheet.

For 13-16 minutes, bake edges until barely golden brown and centre pale and puffy. The centre should be pale but not wet. My average time is 15 minutes. Frost after pan cooling.

Frosting: cream cheeseBlend butter and cream cheese until creamy. Beat in vanilla and almond extracts.

Blend powdered sugar and heavy cream on low speed to avoid powdered sugar flying everywhere, then increase speed as needed. Spread on cool cookies.
