This sugar cookie recipe is my favourite and should be used by everyone. It's buttery and flavorful, but it's easy to work with and holds its shape in the oven, so you can make any kind of crazy cookies.
Ingredient
For the Cookie– 1 cup Butter– 1 cup White Sugar– 2 cups All-purpose FlourFor the Royal Icing– 3 Egg White– 3 cups Icing Sugar– 2 drops Food colouring (optional)
Direction
1
Make Cookies
Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheet with parchment.
2
Beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
3
Mix it in with the flour until it forms a dough. Add a little milk or water if it doesn't stick together.
4
Roll the dough out to about 5 mm thick, cut it into any shape you want, and place it on a baking sheet. Knead the dough just until it is smooth.
5
Put it in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the edges are almost golden brown.
6
Making Royal Icing
Mix egg whites and icing sugar by beating.A spoonful of icing should be drizzled back into the bowl to check its consistency. It should rest on top for 15 seconds before returning to the bowl.
7
If it takes longer, add a splash of water and mix again; if it goes too fast, add a spoonful of icing sugar. Repeat until consistency is achieved. (This only matters if you pipe icing on cookies)
