Chocolate Scones are easy to make and always rich and delicate with a few basic ingredients! Flaky layers make these scones popular.
INGREDIENTS
– 2¼ cups all-purpose flour (270g)– ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (50g)– ¼ cup granulated sugar (50g)– 2½ teaspoons baking powder– ¼ teaspoon salt– ½ cup cold unsalted butter cubed (113g)– ⅓ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (60g)– 1 cup heavy whipping cream divided (240ml)For the Chocolate Glaze:– 1 cup powdered sugar (120g)– 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder– 2 tablespoons whole milk– ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
Warm the oven up to 400F. Put parchment paper on the bottom of a baking sheet.
Step 1
Mix flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl. Toss flour and butter.
Step 2
Work the cold butter into pea-sized pieces using a pastry cutter or your fingers. Mix in chocolate chips.
Step 3
Slowly fork-mix the heavy whipping cream into the flour mixture until a shaggy dough forms. Press the dough into a ¾-inch square on a lightly floured surface.
Step 4
Cut dough in half. Stack and press halves. Cut and stack again, then shape the dough into a 7-inch disc. Cut the disc into 8 triangles and lay them 2 inches apart on the baking sheet.
Step 5
Put in fridge for 15 minutes. Bake for 10–12 minutes, flipping the baking sheet halfway through, until puffed and dry. Let cool fully.
Step 6
For the Glaze:- Mix confectioners' sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla in a medium bowl until smooth. Glaze the cooled scones with chocolate.
Step 7
Allow the glaze to set for 20 minutes before serving. Scones keep for 4 days in an airtight container.
