Crostini Recipe

Make golden, toasted crostini with this simple recipe! They cook easily in the oven or grill. Crostini are ideal for party appetisers or light meals with toppings.

– 1 baguette (crusty French bread) – 2 to 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, as needed – Flaky sea salt or fine salt, to taste

Warm up the gas grill or oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. It's easy to clean up if you line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 1

If your baking sheet isn't as big as mine, you might have to make the toast twice. Cut your baguette into pieces that are no more than ½-inch wide by cutting it across the grain.

Step 2

Many times, 20 to 24 slices of bread fit on my big baking sheet. You may have extra bread. Spread a little olive oil on both sides of each slice (about 2 to 3 tablespoons' worth).

Step 3

Place the slices in a single layer on your prepared baking sheet and bake on the middle rack for 6–9 minutes until crisp and golden. Sprinkle toasts lightly with salt. Serve the toasts on a platter if desired.
