Get the oven hot, about 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Get a 9x13-inch pan greased.

Salt and cinnamon can be added to flour, 1 cup sugar, and baking powder in a medium bowl. Blend shortening and egg with a fork or pastry cutter. Crumbly dough. Press half the dough into the pan.

Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cornflour in another bowl; gently add blueberries. Evenly distribute blueberry mixture over crust. Crumble remaining dough on berries.
Bake for 45 minutes in preheated oven until top is slightly brown. Cool completely before cutting squares.
